一名美國官員表示，美國與土耳其19日簽署協議，將為溫和派敘利亞反抗軍提供訓練和設備，同時，安卡拉的訓練人員將與美國軍方人員共事，兩國將派出相同數量的訓練人員。
這名官員說，美國與土耳其簽署的協議是4項相關計畫之一，華府也將與約旦、沙烏地阿拉伯、卡達達成相關協議，以便向反對武裝組織「伊斯蘭國(Islamic State)」的敘利亞反抗軍提供訓練。
